Why Quality?

Seeking out grass-fed & finished (GFF) and Pasture-Raised (PR) meats is important because of the drastic differences in the animal's nutrition.





Animals that are fed their biologically appropriate diet contain more key vitamins, minerals, & antioxidants.


Compared to grain-fed, GFF animals are higher in vitamin A and E and have precursors to vitamin A, such as beta carotene. GFF beef is also richer in other antioxidants, according to studies done by Meat Science volume 75 and 67.


Along with more nutrients, pasture-raised and finished animals will be lower in fat, toxins and have a higher concentration of omega-3s. This means that it becomes easier with higher quality animals to achieve the omega 6 to omega 3 balance. When comparing the fatty acid composition of grass-fed and finished (GFF) and grain-fed, it can be seen that GFF contains much less monosaturated fats and around 3 times more omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed.


While it is understandable that not everyone will have access to pasture-raised and finished animals, it's important to feed as high-quality animals as you can.
